Independence Day Dessert Recipe

Ok, so I have a new recipe for you. I haven't picked a name for it yet, but I am going with Red White and Blue Decadence. It is SO good and EASY!
Angel Food Cake (or Pound Cake, but Angel Food Cake has no fat and I think it's equally as good.)
Filling:
8 oz Cream Cheese (softened)
1 c Sour Cream
1/2 c. Sugar
1/4 c. Lemon Juice
Raspberries and Blueberries (I like 4 oz of Raspberries and 8 oz of blueberries, but mix it up how you like it!)
Filling Directions:
1) Cream the Cream Cheese with a mixer
2) Add in Sour Cream and Sugar
3) Add in Lemon Juice
The filling should be fairly thick with a light lemon taste. Adjust Sugar and Lemon Juice to your tastes. (This filling is also wonderful as a fruit dip or sauce if you don't want the cake!)
Slice the Angel Food Cake into 3 layers.
Place the bottom layer onto a cake plate. Cover the layer with 1/4 of the Filling. Spread Berries around on top of the filling.
Place the next cake layer on top of that. Cover the layer with 1/4 of the filling. Spread the Berries around on top.
Place the last cake layer on top of that.
Next, make your choice:
1) Cover the cake with remaining filling, letting the excess slide down the sides of the cake and toss remaining berries over the cake.
OR
2) Save remaining berries and filling to drizzle over the cake after you slice it as you are getting ready to serve.
Last, if you can stand not to eat it right away, let the cake chill for an hour or more. (you can even make it the day before!)
ENJOY!!!
Ok, now if you know me at all, you know I don't usually say this BUT.... You can make this dessert nearly fat free by using Neufchatel cheese instead of full fat cream cheese and LIGHT (not Fat Free - YUCK!) Sour Cream without sacrificing much in the way of flavor and texture. I imagine you could use Splenda instead of sugar as well since the lemon juice would probably hide most of the nastiness, but that's just too much for me... I can't stand the artificial sweeteners, so, while I would not try it myself, if you like Splenda, go for it!
Have a great July 4!
